His Story

Joe Sears, born in Bartlesville, OK is the co-star and co-creator of four wildly popular plays set in the fictional, third-smallest city in Texas - "Greater Tuna" and "A Tuna Christmas" among them. Sears toured extensively with the Tuna stories for 32 years and never missed one performance. He made his Broadway debut with "A Tuna Christmas" and earned a Best Actor Tony nomination, even doing two command performances at the White House for then President George H.W. Bush and his wife, Barbara. In addition to playwrighting and teaching, Sears also made time to direct "The Drunkard" at Tulsa's Spotlight Theatre between 2013-2022. Joe has written six published plays and performed in eight Shakespearean productions. He received the LA Drama Award for Acting; three Helen Hayes Award nominations, and was declared "a national treasure" by the Washington Post.
