A Broken Arrow native who came to painting later in life, Carla Hefley discovered art as a light out of a difficult period in her mid-50s, and hasn't stopped since. Working primarily in oils and graphite, she has studied with an impressive roster of nationally acclaimed artists and her work has evolved from luminous floral still lifes to landscapes, portraiture, and a recent series of introspective self-portraits. Her newest work showcases a return to her first love, flowers, this time rendered in graphite, a medium she discovered in 2024.
