About the Artist

Route 66 turns 100 this year, and our September gallery show takes the long way home to celebrate. Oklahoma painter Richard Hight works primarily with a palette knife, building rich impasto textures that give Oklahoma's stretch of America's Main Street the weight and warmth of memory. Weathered roadside diners, vintage neon, sweeping plains, and the kind of sunset you pull over for. Catoosa's Blue Whale is here, and so is Lucille's in Hydro, home of the woman known as the Mother of the Mother Road.

Hight's work has been featured on ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX, and hangs in more than 70 universities along with corporate, government, and private collections and museums nationwide.

Whether you've driven every mile of it or only imagined the trip, join us for the artist reception Thursday, September 3 from 6 to 8pm and see the Mother Road through Richard Hight's eyes. Richard will also be on hand during the Oklahoma premiere of Route 66: The Main Street of America, putting the finishing touches on one of his paintings.
