ABOUT THE EVENT

Saturday 7/12 at 3pm - Panel (FREE)

Eastern Oklahoma’s rivers, springs, and aquifers are lifelines—ecologically, culturally, and spiritually. This dynamic panel brings together artists and journalists who are using their crafts to elevate stories of the region’s water sources and the communities fighting to protect them. Through investigative reporting, documentary photography, poetry, and visual art, these storytellers bear witness to environmental challenges, Indigenous sovereignty, agricultural pressures, and grassroots resilience. Together, they explore how creative expression and fact-based reporting can inspire public awareness, influence policy, and honor the deep connections between water, land, and identity. Join us for a conversation about the role of storytelling in defending the waters that define Eastern Oklahoma.

Featuring Molly Bullock, Alex DeRoin, Melissa Lukenbaugh and Colleen Thurston. Moderated by Jessi McEver (Jessi serves her community as an advisor to Circle Cinema, the Indian Territory Film Festival, and Native Reel Cinema Fest.)
