Blacktober kicks off with a CANDYMAN double feature. See the original film at 6:30p with an introduction by the hosts, followed by the new film at 8:30p with a post-film Q&A and discussion lead by the hosts. The Candyman films center on a murderous soul with a hook for a hand who is accidentally summoned to reality by a skeptic grad student researching the monster's myth. The franchise is known for diving deep on themes of race and trauma with plenty of psychological scares and slasher action.
