Double De Palma Weekend: Blow Out

This September, Graveyard Shift celebrates director Brian De Palma with screenings of two of his most-loved movies on his birthday weekend. A master craftsman of suspense, De Palma’s visual trademarks and command of the thriller genre are on full display in BLOW OUT, playing Friday, September 11, and in BODY DOUBLE, playing Saturday, September 12.

BLOW OUT screens one night only at 9pm on September 11, Brian De Palma’s birthday. In BLOW OUT, John Travolta plays a Philadelphia sound-effects man who witnesses and records a car accident that turns out to be a politically motivated murder. Brian De Palma’s stylish and quite inspired mash-up of Coppola’s THE CONVERSATION and Antonioni’s BLOW-UP remains one of the key conspiracy thrillers of the 1980s and had a profound influence on directors as diverse as Quentin Tarantino and Oliver Stone. BLOW OUT is arguably De Palma’s masterpiece.
