Reel Crafts is presents a tribute to Dolly Parton for November, and we're welcoming additional partners this month to truly honor Dolly's legacy. In the spirit of the film, Dress for Success Tulsa will be taking donations of professional attire and supplies for women - most needed are new mascaras and new or gently used scarves. And in the spirit of Dolly's community work, Palomino Books and Music will take donations of new or gently used children's books that will be available to the Kendall Whittier community.
Reel Crafts is the craft-friendly film series from Circle Cinema and Community Craft. We’ll keep the lights half-raised during the film and guests are encouraged to enjoy a personal craft project to work on during the film. Community Craft will be in the lobby with some craft kits on sale before the film, or you can bring your own quiet craft project like knitting, coloring, beadwork, and more. Then at 7pm, Community Craft’s Mary Make & Do will introduce the movie of the month - Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin, and Jane Fonda in the classic 9 to 5 (1980). Tickets on sale now, $11 members and $13 non-members.

About the film: 1h49min - Comedy - Rated PG - English
Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin, and Jane Fonda star in this classic 1980 satire about the experiences of women in male-dominated workplaces. The film was a critical and commercial success and has stood the test of time, with Dolly Parton's contributions being a large part of that. 9 to 5 was her first major acting role as she transitioned from music videos to the screen and she shines as Doralee. Dolly also wrote and recorded the iconic theme song which topped the charts en route to an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song and numerous other accolades and acclaim in the years since release.
Meet Franklin Hart (Dabney Coleman). The biggest "sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot" boss on the planet. He thrills in taking advantage of his head female office staff; humiliating, downplaying, and condescending against them whenever conveniently possible, particularly his top assistant Violet (Lily Tomlin). Long-exhausted over his gruesome bullishness, Violet, alongside co-workers Doralee (Dolly Parton) and Judy (Jane Fonda) comprise comical methods of "doing him in," when a freak incident occurs. They then manage to kidnap Hart and trap him in his own house, while assuming control of his department, and productivity leaps. But just how long can they keep him tied up?
