Join us for a playful, thought-provoking Twilight experience unlike anything you’ve seen before! Guests are encouraged to RSVP—just to give the Circle team a capacity heads up.
While Twilight became a global cultural phenomenon, it also represented a major missed opportunity for authentic Indigenous representation. The film features a real, Federally Recognized Tribe from a real place—yet no Indigenous consultants were involved, and the tribe was never asked for permission to be included in the fictional narrative. These choices contributed to harmful stereotypes and skewed power dynamics that still echo through the media today. This conversation is exactly why the Circle Cinema Native Advisory Board has chosen to present this special screening.
To help us unpack the cringe with humor and community, we’re proud to present the Native Cringe: Twilight Interactive Screening, complete with prop bags! A fun, interactive way to engage with the film. Prop kits available for the first 100 guests.
Wave a noisemaker when you see Gil Birmingham, Boo when you see a Native American stereotype, you know - things that make you say to yourself “D.E.I., where the hell have you been loca?!”
The best part about this screening? It’s free! Free ticket, free popcorn, and free prop bags (while supplies last). Rez Film Club is presented by the Native Circle Advisory Board at Circle Cinema and proudly sponsored by the Flint Family Foundation and Cherokee Film.
Prop kits include sunglasses, glow in the dark vampire teeth, gummy worms, and a noisemaker.
