About the film: Equal parts humor and drama, ‘Susan’ follows a middle aged woman in Oklahoma as she navigates her “realities” after a dementia diagnosis. What Susan Suchan has, is the exact same diagnosis as Bruce Willis: frontotemporal dementia (FTD) with primary progressive aphasia. Susan lives in two alternate realities and clearly articulates both worlds for audiences. In her first reality, she is stripped of relationships, money, and social filters, and is forced to move in with her family, while secretly planning a way to end her misery. In her alternate reality, Susan maximizes every coherent second she has left partying with friends on a river trip, becoming an outspoken advocate for people just like her, and opting for a final trip to the ocean with her family over her secret end of life planning.
