ABOUT THE EVENT

D-Day Commemoration – Free Documentary Screening & Veteran Portraits

Friday, June 6 | 2:00pm | FREE Admission

Join Circle Cinema for our annual D-Day commemoration honoring the bravery and sacrifice of our veterans. This free public event features a special screening of the Oscar-nominated documentary D-Day Remembered and pre-show activities celebrating those who served. The Keith Myers Traveling Military Museum will not have it's full display as Keith is out of town, but he has leased a few items to the Circle that will be available in the lobby.

Before the screening, stop by the lobby for a special offering: local portrait artist Romney Nesbitt will create complimentary 9x12" drawings for veterans. Each portrait takes approximately twelve minutes and will be done on a first-come, first-served basis.

The program begins with archival video from a past D-Day ceremony at Circle, featuring a moving presentation of the colors and anthems from each military branch performed on Circle’s original 1928 pipe organ by the late Phil Judkins.

D-Day Remembered (1994, Documentary, Not Rated) uses rare archival footage from U.S., British, and German sources to recount the Normandy invasion. The film features over 50 voices of participants who planned and experienced the historic day, offering a powerful, first-hand perspective.

This event is free and open to the public. We thank all veterans and service members for their dedication and sacrifice.
