ABOUT THE EVENT

Join us for the opening reception of Sacred Duties, a compelling exhibit that explores the profound responsibility Indigenous peoples hold as caretakers of the land. This exhibit highlights the sacred connection between Native communities and the earth, emphasizing the duty to protect and nurture the environment for future generations.

Sacred Duties examines the relationship between Indigenous peoples and the land, showcasing art that reflects this deep-rooted understanding. For Indigenous peoples, the land is not just a resource; it is a living entity, imbued with spirit and wisdom, and integral to cultural identity. Through a variety of artistic mediums, featured artists convey the urgency of safeguarding these lands against exploitation and degradation while honoring the ancestors who entrusted us with this sacred duty.

This exhibit invites reflection on our own relationship with the land and urges us to recognize environmental preservation as a moral imperative grounded in respect, reciprocity, and love for our shared earth. It is a call to action, reminding us that the preservation of the environment is vital for survival and deeply intertwined with our collective responsibility to protect the earth.
