About the film: 1h42min - Comedy, Drama, Romance - Not Rated - English
Written and directed by H. Nelson Tracey, "Breakup Season" debuted at the 2024 Circle Cinema Film Festival and returns for a new holiday tradition on National Breakup Day. Ben Russell (Chandler Riggs, "The Walking Dead"), an unemployed yet ambitious 24-year-old, brings his girlfriend Cassie (Tulsa's own Samantha Isler, "Molly's Game") from Los Angeles to his rural Oregon hometown to meet his parents and siblings for the first time and spend Christmas with his family: his goofy dad Kirby (James Urbaniak, "Oppenheimer"), loving but stern mom Mia (Brook Hogan), aspiring vlogger younger sister Liz (Carly Stewart), and enigmatic deadbeat older brother Gordon (Jacob Wysocki, "Dropout"). The arrival is bumpy, and the family's dynamic unearths some internal conflict Cassie is having with her relationship with Ben. A late night conversation between the couple turns into a breakup, and Cassie determines she should go home for Christmas after all. But due to the winter weather and remote rural location, Cassie learns she is unable to travel. She becomes stuck with her newly minted ex's family for the rest of the holiday.

About Samantha Isler: Tulsa native Samantha Isler fell in love with the arts at a young age, participating in school and community theater before landing her first role at twelve in the Oklahoma-made baseball film "Home Run The Movie." Samantha gained more exposure and experience appearing in other films and popular television shows, including Supernatural and Grey’s Anatomy, all while remaining in Oklahoma amongst friends and family. Her most notable works to date include NBC comedy "Sean Saves The World" starring Sean Hayes, "Captain Fantastic" starring Viggo Mortensen, and "Molly’s Game" directed by Aaron Sorkin. After her Screen Actors Guild Nomination for Best Ensemble in 2017, Samantha pursued her education at the University of Kansas and earned a Bachelor of Arts in English. Her latest film, "Breakup Season," directed by H. Nelson Tracey, played at 39 film festivals in 2024, including its Oklahoma premiere at the Circle Cinema Film Festival where Samantha was inducted into the Oklahoma Walk of Fame. Samantha's turn in "Breakup Season" was widely acclaimed, winning her 4 Best Actress awards at festivals across the country. Samantha enjoys the life she has created in Oklahoma and appreciates all of the creatives who work hard to make the state, and the city of Tulsa, a place in which the arts can thrive.
