"Valhalla Rising,” Nicholas Winding Refn’s 2009 action-epic, returns to the big screen at Circle Cinema for one night only with the CineDOOM series sponsored by the Tulsa Artist Fellowship. Screening Thu 8/25, 8:00p with a special introduction by Blackhorse Lowe (CineDOOM curator, Tulsa Artist Fellow, and award-winning writer, director, and producer).
“Valhalla Rising” is directed by Nicolas Winding Refn (“Drive,” “Only God Forgives”) and stars Mads Mikkelsen. Forced for some time to be a fighting slave, a pagan warrior escapes his captors with a boy and joins a group of Crusaders on their quest to the Holy Land.
Blackhorse Lowe is a filmmaker from the Navajo Nation and a multi-alum of the Sundance Film Institute. A recipient of the Panavision Award, his work has garnered accolades internationally at prominent festivals including Sundance and Tribeca. Recently, he directed and wrote episodes for the groundbreaking FX series “Reservation Dogs” created by Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi. Lowe is a current Tulsa Artist Fellow and is in development for an epic feature “Lords of the Earth.”
