Okie Film Night powered by Experience Tulsa invites you to celebrate the holidays with this frightful festive favorite back on the big screen for the 40th anniversary! Tickets on sale now, just $5 each.

1h46min - Dark Comedy/Horror - Rated PG - English

The film features Oklahoma’s own Hoyt Axton as Randall Peltzer, a hapless inventor who brings the strange Mogwai home for his son Billy as a Christmas present. The cuddly pet comes with just two rules: don’t get him wet, and don’t feed him after midnight. When both are inevitably broken, the whole town must stop the murderous gremlins before it’s too late. Originally released in 1984 from director Joe Dante and producer Steven Spielberg, the film has become a holiday tradition for many.

About Hoyt Axton (1938-1999)
Look for his medallion on Circle's Oklahoma Walk of Fame outside the theater! A Duncan, OK native and OSU alum, Axton rose to prominence as a folk singer in San Francisco after a stint in the navy. His first hit was "Greenback Dollar," and he wrote songs for himself and others through the 80s, most notably "Joy to the World" for Three Dog Night. He also found concurrent success as an actor, starting in 1963's "The Story of a Folksinger." He would become beloved for his many film and television roles, including "Gremlins," "The Black Stallion," and "Heart Like a Wheel."

Presented with Experience Tulsa, Okie Film Night is a monthly series celebrating Oklahoma’s rich film history past and present. Learn more about other events at ExperienceTulsaHub.org.
