SOLD OUT - initial allotment of tickets have sold out at this time. Should any additional tickets become available, an announcement will be made by mid February.

Presented with The Hulett Collection, with special guests Sir Roger Deakins (Oscar-winning cinematographer), James Deakins (Team Deakins podcast co-host, Roger's creative partner)  and Tulsa's own Tim Blake Nelson in attendance for a Q&A! One night only, Fri 2/27, beginning with the pre-film Q&A at 6:45pm followed by the film at 7:30pm.

The Hulett Collection is pleased to present Still Light, an exhibition of new photographs by Roger Deakins, on view in conjunction with a week of public programs across Tulsa. Running parallel to his celebrated career in cinema, the  photographs in Still Light are rooted in observation rather than spectacle—quiet moments shaped by light, timing, and an attentiveness  to place. Seen together, the works reveal a consistent visual philosophy grounded in restraint, patience, and the expressive potential of  the everyday. Visit TheHulettCollection.com for more on Still Light and other events happening in Tulsa with Roger Deakins in support of the exhibit.

Still Life will open at The Hulett Collection with a special artist reception on Sat 2/28, 6-8pm. The Hulett Collection is located at 1311 E 15th St, Tulsa, OK 74120. Still Life will remain on display through May 2.

Before the Fri 2/27 film screening at Circle Cinema, Tim Blake Nelson will join Team Deakins - Roger and James - for a Q&A moderated by Jeff Van Hanken (Wellspring Associate Professor of Film Studies, University of Tulsa). Following the Q&A, the film will begin at 7:30pm. The Team Deakins podcast is an ongoing conversation between acclaimed cinematographer Roger Deakins and James Deakins, his collaborator, about cinematography, the film business and whatever other questions are submitted.

In the lobby during the event, Magic City Books will have signed copies of Roger's new book Reflections on Cinematography for sale.

Roger Deakins, freuqent collaborator with the Coen Brothers, received an Oscar nomination for his cinematography on the film. Tim Blake Nelson was widely praised for his turn as Delmar, and won a Grammy for his contributions to the soundtrack. Ulysses Everett McGill (George Clooney) is having difficulty adjusting to his hard-labor sentence in Mississippi. He scams his way off the chain gang with simple Delmar (Tim Blake Nelson) and maladjusted Pete (John Turturro), then the trio sets out to pursue freedom and the promise of a fortune in buried treasure. About Roger Deakins: Roger Deakins was born in Torquay, Devon, England. He attended art college and the National Film School. Roger then went on to feature cinematography, starting in England and then later shooting in the United States. His primary hobbies are taking still photographs and fishing. Before he entered the National Film School, he spent a year in North Devon, England, using his still camera to document the way of life on the farms and in the villages. This cemented his passion for still photography that continues to this day. On the rare days that he is not in his boat, fishing, while in Devon, he enjoys traveling to various places to augment his growing series of images. Roger started this website to provide a forum dedicated to an ongoing discussion of cinematography and filmmaking as well as sharing some of his experience with any who might be interested.
