About the film: Oklahoma has a turnpike problem. The proposed plan will destroy countless of homes, forever. Hundreds of rural land owners sit in the path of ACCESS Oklahoma, a 15-year $8.2 billion plan to develop new turnpikes. Turnpike will also cause habitat destruction and be catastrophic for wildlife. Turnpike will pollute Lake Thunderbird and several watersheds.
Pike off is not a vulgar term as some may perceive it. In essence, is British slang to go away.
Bond buyers and road builders stand to profit as lobbyists, lawmakers and developers pave the way for special interest elites to grift off state government. Many will be forced out of their homes by condemnation and displaced for the sake of additional toll roads and expanded debt. Turnpike access denied. Side by side with neighbors, working-class Oklahomans to grass-root organizers, all unite to state their loud opposition against a corrupt, unelected, and unaccountable government bureaucracy run amok.
Pike Off OTA chronicles the dramatic events that emerge during public meetings, press conferences, investigative audits, and a Supreme Court enabling one of the largest eminent domain takes in Oklahoma history.
