World-renowned activists Pussy Riot are coming to Circle Cinema! Presented on Sunday May 7, the Russian punk protest and performance art group will be at Circle for an "Evening With" event featuring film clips, conversation, and audience questions. Tickets on sale now, $20 Members and $25 non-Members. Film clips and conversation begin 7:00pm. Pussy Riot was founded in 2011 and gained recognition for their arrests over public protests in Russia against Putin’s policies. Their music and work promoting feminism, LGBTQ+ rights, and denouncing fascism continue to inspire activists around the world. Guests will get an in-depth look at Pussy Riot’s music and legacy with a chance to ask questions moderated by Julie Wenger Watson. Pussy Riot are in Tulsa to receive the Woody Guthrie Prize, to be awarded at a Cain’s Ballroom event on Saturday May 6. Every year, the Woody Guthrie Center awards the prize to an artist who best exemplifies Woody Guthrie’s spirit and work by speaking for the less fortunate through music, film, literature, dance or other art forms and serving as a positive force for social change. Pussy Riot will accept the award before an interview and musical performance. Tickets for the event at Cain’s are still available at CainsBallroom.com.
