The African American Resource Center and Circle Cinema are hosting a screening of "The Killing Floor," starring Damien Leake and Tulsa native Alfre Woodard. Celebrating Black History Month, this film aligns to this year’s African American Resource Center theme, African Americans and Labor, which recognizes and honors the contributions of Black Americans to the Labor Movement. The screening includes a post film Q&A on the topic with Mikeale Campbell and Erran Persley, moderated by the AARC's Larissa McNeil.
Based on real individuals and real events, "The Killing Floor" follows Black sharecroppers from Mississippi who move to Chicago for better employment opportunities. Soon, however, they must confront racism, labor disputes and union organizing. The film was originally released in 1984, and is 1h58min. The film is not rated.
